The 2013 Annual Meeting of the Hong Kong Police Volunteer Services Corps (HKPVSC) was held at Police Headquarters on August 31, presided over by HKPVSC Convenor Chief Superintendent Wong Kwok-wai.  Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Ma Wai-luk, Director of Personnel and Training Chau Kwok-leung and Director of Management Services Lau Yip-shing presented the "Award for Volunteer Service (Group)", "Award for Volunteer Service (Individual)", and "Award for Volunteer Service (Family)" to individual volunteers and volunteer groups.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Tsang thanked all the volunteers for their selfless devotion to helping those in need and encouraged Force members and their families to continue supporting volunteer service.
 
In 2012, over 4 000 HKPVSC volunteers devoted a total of 126,276 service hours. With this excellent record, the HKPVSC pulled off the "Gold Award for Volunteer Service (Organisation)", which is a great encouragement and motivation for the volunteers who have made a tremendous effort over the years in the category of "Award for Volunteer Service (Group)". In the same category, following police voluntary teams have been awarded.
 
Gold Award for Volunteer Service (1,000 hours or over):
 
Rainbow Police Volunteer Service Group; Hong Kong Junior Police Officers' Association; OCTANS; Police Civilian Staff Club; Hong Kong Adventure Corps-F Sqn; Tuen Mun District Police Volunteer Team; Galaxy Police Volunteers; Auxiliary Police Volunteer Services Cadre; Lok Ma Chau Police Volunteer Team; Hong Kong Police College Volunteers Team; PINNACLE Police Volunteer; Hong Kong Old Comrade Association of Police Volunteers Service; Day Break Volunteer; Blue Sky Voluntary Services Team; Wong Tai Sin District Police Volunteer Team; Kowloon East Emergency Unit Volunteer Team; Hong Kong Police Handicraft Club; Tin Sum Police Volunteer Group; Police Football Referees' Club; and Traffic NTN Volunteer Team.
 
Silver Award for Volunteer Service (600 hours or over):
 
Eastern District Volunteer Group; HKPWCC Global Village Volunteers Team; Yuen Long District Volunteer Group; GEN-Y Volunteer Team; and Happy Valley Volunteer Team.
 
Bronze Award for Volunteer Service (300 hours or over):
 
Police Dog Unit and Self-Help Group for Parents with Special Needs Children.
 
In the "Award for Volunteer Service (Individual)" category, a total of 788 police volunteers were awarded, of whom 194 received "Gold Award" (200 hours of service or over), 211, "Silver Award" (100 hours of service or over) and 383, "Bronze Award" (50 hours of service or over).
 
In the "Long Service Award in 2012 (Individual)" category, 54 police volunteers were awarded. Among them, 20 have served the community for more than 10 years and one for over 20 years. Fifteen families participating in police voluntary services were awarded in the category of "Award for Volunteer Service (Family)", when five families received "Silver Award" (100 hours of service or over) and 10 families, "Bronze Award" (50 hours of service or over).
 
At the annual meeting, Ms Prudence Wong from the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong, and Mr Mak Cho-tak, who is also a police officer, from Hong Kong St. John Ambulance, introduced their backgrounds and visions, and shared with the volunteers the satisfaction of serving the community.  In addition, representatives from UNICEF, Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association, Wai Ji Christian Service, Agency for Volunteer Service, OXFAM Hong Kong, and ORBIS attended the annual meeting and showed their appreciation and support for HKPVSC.
 
The meeting ended with HKPVSC members pledging to serve more people in line with the HKPVSC's tradition.
 
Participating in the territory-wide "Hong Kong: Our Home" campaign, the Force's Volunteer Services Corps led a party of Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) children to attend a passing-out parade at Police College on September 7, supporting campaign theme of "Caring Hong Kong" and showing care and love to the NEC kids.
 
On September 8, around 40 Force members from the Volunteer Services Corps, together with officers from the Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island launched a beach clean-up programme at Stanley Beach and disseminated anti-theft message to swimmers.  Under the theme of "Fresh Hong Kong", the programme achieved the objective of building a cleaner, healthier and safer home.
