As more Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) are taking home in Yuen Long, Yuen Long District (YLDIST) hosted an annual "YLDIST Lunar New Year Fight Crime Football Match" at Tin Shui Wai Sports Ground on March 2 for the Yuen Long District Council Football Team, Wan Toi Shan Akunne African Football Team and Nepalese Resunga Football Team. Many community leaders turned up to support this community-engagement event, including Chairman of Yuen Long District Fight Crime Committee (YLDFCC), Mr Lee Yuet-man, and Vice-chairman of Yuen Long District Council (YLDC), Mr Wong Wai-shun, as well as members of YLDFCC and YLDC.

The football match sought to promulgate the message of fighting crimes in partnership, enhance the communication among the ethnic minorities and promote social harmony. In the finale, the YLDIST Football lost to the Wan Toi Shan Akunne African Football Team but won the loud applause of the spectators.

Presenting prizes to the winner and runners-up, YLDIST Deputy Commander Lau Mei-yam thanked the community leaders and players for supporting the event and pledged to work closely with the local community to prevent and fight crimes.
