Following introduction of the KM journey in the last issue of OffBeat, we introduce the number "4" in this article.  The number "4" represents the four KM Champions who are responsible for promoting and developing KM in the Force.

The KM Champion Scheme, which was established at Force level in 2006, contributes to knowledge and experience sharing in four areas.  In November 2012, the Director of Police College appointed the present four KM Champions, who are responsible, in a secondary capacity, for implementing and developing KM initiatives as well as encouraging Force members to share their experiences.  It is hoped that through different types of KM activities, the overall performance can be enhanced.

The four KM Champions are Assistant Commissioner Edwina Lau, Chief Superintendent Samson Cho, Senior Superintendent Alice Lee and Senior Superintendent Eric Cheng, who look after "Storytelling", "Lessons Learnt", "Good Practices" and "Peer Adviser Scheme" respectively.

"Storytelling" collects and shares real-life policing stories or operations that are inspirational and infused with police knowledge, to be delivered in a multi-media format or as Offbeat articles.  "Lessons Learnt" and "Good Practices" promote the capturing and sharing of tacit knowledge through databases. The "Peer Adviser Scheme" appoints subject matter experts as Peer Advisers to offer suggestions or opinions to colleagues according to their professional knowledge and expertise.

The Specialised Services Training Centre of Police College and the KM Champions meet regularly with other KM stakeholders to review KM progress.

For those eager to have the latest update on KM, besides the above KM activities organised by the KM Champions, the Specialised Services Training Centre held the 52nd session of Knowledge Café on the topic of "The Role of Frontline Units in Counter-Terrorism Work" on February 27.  Chief Inspector (CTIS) Wilson Wong and Senior Inspector (CTRU) Ray Ng shared their experiences with more than 70 frontline officers. They also spoke of the Force CT Strategy and the co-operation between Force CT units and frontline officers.
