To echo New Territories North's technology crime prevention initiative, "Project Meshcutter", Yuen Long District (YLDIST) has rolled out a series of publicity and education activities in partnership with various stakeholders in the community in a bid to help the public prevent on-line crime.

On August 20, the Police Community Relations Office and Junior Police Call members of YLDIST visited a cyber cafe to promulgate technology crime prevention. The visit met with a big support from the cyber cafe owner, who not only displayed fliers in the shop, but also put technology crime prevention messages on the screensaver programme of all the desktops in the shop.

Three days later on August 23, YLDIST set up a booth to promote prevention of on-line crime in the Yuen Long Youth Summer Holiday Closing Ceremony cum Carnival hosted by Home Affairs Department. Many visitors to the booth got more acquainted with the trend and modus operandi of technology crime through interactive games.

YLDIST also maintains close liaison with local trade associations and management companies of commercial and industrial buildings in the district in a bid to promote prevention of e-mail scams and technology crime by delivering seminars and crime alerts.
