Lantau District (LTDIST) has won the Social Capital Builder Award of the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF). The award presentation was held on December 9 with the Chief Secretary of Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, as officiating guest.

LTDIST has been actively promoting the core values of social capital, such as focusing on community power and promoting mutual support and mutual trust, through various channels, including Junior and Senior Police Call schemes and services for the Non-ethnic Chinese. All these are aimed at making the community more aware of social capital.

The District has been utilising social capital and collaborating with the local stakeholders in building a caring and supportive community, winning nomination by a Non-governmental Organisation, Tung Chung Safe and Health City, for the Social Capital Award Scheme.

With the support of the Labour and Welfare Bureau, the CIIF launched the biennial Social Capital Builder Award Scheme in 2012 to commend individuals, enterprises and CIIF-funded project grantees for their contributions to the development of social capital in Hong Kong; encourage enterprises to fulfil corporate social responsibility and promote cross-sector collaboration and participation in building social capital in Hong Kong.
