Kowloon City District (KCDIST) is running a project known as "Kowloon City Peer Mentor Scheme" with the City University of Hong Kong to help Form 1 students. The social workers and teachers of the schools participating in the Peer Mentor Scheme would identify Form 1 students in need of more attention in terms of academic or behavioural issues, and pair up each with a higher form (Form 4 or 5) student, who will act as a mentor to support and coach the former throughout the first year of secondary school life.

On December 20 last year, volunteers from the City University and Kowloon City Police Community Relations Office accompanied 33 mentors and 28 mentees from a participating school to take part in a training camp in Ma Wan. The camp sought to boost confidence, team spirit and problem solving skills through challenging activities. At the end of the overnight camp, all the campers had their bonding and communication enhanced.
