Under Crime Wing's Overseas and Mainland Study Visit Programme for District Investigation Team (DIT) officers, Chief Inspector Chan Tsz-leung from Wong Tai Sin District led a delegation of 14 officers from different police districts to visit Shenyang Municipal Public Security Bureau (SYPSB) from June 21 to 24.

In the visit to the Command and Control Centre of SYPSB, the delegation members were impressed by the use of closed-circuit television systems in public places to locate targets of crime cases more effectively.

In addition to a wide-ranging discussion with their Mainland counterparts on investigation skills and strategies against local crimes, the delegation also visited the National Police University of China. The university provides a four-year comprehensive criminal investigation programme for students who will work as detectives in different provinces upon graduation.

For the delegation members, the visit was an eye-opening experience. Detective Inspector Wong Chi-tang commented, "The visit has broadened our horizons of the policing work on the Mainland. The interaction with the experienced officers of the SYPSB was particularly valuable."
