Traffic Kowloon West (T KW) held the 2nd quarter Traffic Accident Reduction Co-ordination Committee (TARCC) Meeting on July 27 to review the traffic accident situation in the first six months of this year.


Among those present at the meeting were Chairman of the Traffic and Transport Committee (T&TC) of Yau Tsim Mong District Council (DC), Mr Ip Ngo-tung, Chairperson of the T&TC of Kowloon City DC, Ms Li Lin, Chairman of the T&TC of Sham Shui Po DC, Mr Vincent Cheng, a representative of Transport Department, and the officers-in-charge of various units in T KW.


Prior to the meeting, T KW Senior Superintendent (SSP) Chan Kwok-kee presented complimentary letters to officers for their contributions to combating drink driving and dealing with the misbehaviour of drivers.


At the meeting, he introduced T KW's priority tasks in the coming half year, including reinforcing the co-operation among formations, DC T&TCs and other stakeholders. He also reminded officers to step up enforcement action against offences of illegal parking and stopping at box junction, and make elders more aware of road safety.


To reduce fatal and serious traffic accident, deter drink driving, drug driving, speeding and illegal car racing, and to promote pedestrian safety, T KW adopts a strategy comprising education and publicity, law enforcement, as well as traffic engineering to improve road design and facilities, SSP Chan added.
