The Police Community Relations Office of Tuen Mun District (TMDIST), Tuen Mun District Fight Crime Committee (TMDFCC) and Lingnan University have joined hands in organising a "Tuen Mun Fight Crime Street Running Programme" in a bid to expand the community network.

Professional athletics coaches have injected some fun elements into the programme, which aims at helping young people develop their thinking and values. Police volunteers have been recruited to run alongside students so that they would understand more about the Force. The volunteers will take the opportunity to pass crime prevention messages to the students and remind them to stay away from undesirable elements. Many local and Non-ethnic Chinese students are also taking part in the programme.

The kick-off ceremony of the programme took place in Tuen Mun Police Station on July 14 before the first training lesson began. Among those attending the ceremony were TMDIST Commander Iain McNicol, Chairman of TMDFCC, Mr Lee Hung-sham, and Convener of "Project X", Mr Lau Ka-keung.

At the ceremony, Police Community Relations Officer TMDIST Choy Chun-wah, briefly introduced the objectives of the programme and provided information on the telephone deception cases that had been reported. He also encouraged students to beef up their perseverance, courage and confidence through training sessions.

After the ceremony, the students set off from Tuen Mun Police Station for a 2-km run, led by coaches, police volunteers and members of the TMDFCC.
