The Governor of Queensland, Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Paul De Jersey, paid a courtesy call on Commissioner Lo Wai-chung on August 28.

Mr Lo and the Governor discussed a number of policing issues. After the courtesy call, the Governor toured the Headquarters Command and Control Centre, where he was briefed on the Force's operational response to major incidents and natural disasters in Hong Kong.

After his visit to the Force, the Governor said he would like to see more co-operation between the Queensland Police and the Force.

Liaison Officer visits Crime Wing

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Australian Federal Police (AFP) Liaison Officer in Hong Kong, Ms Justine Gough, visited Crime Wing on July 30.

During her visit, Ms Gough was introduced to her work partners in Narcotics Bureau, Commercial Crime Bureau, Organized Crime and Triad Bureau, Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau and Liaison Bureau.

She also paid a courtesy call on Assistant Commissioner (Crime) John Ribeiro and both exchanged views of the co-operation between the AFP and the Force.

Ms Gough also took the opportunity to present Commander's Certificate of Appreciation from the New South Wales Police Commissioner to Liaison Bureau officers for their contributions to the extradition of a male fugitive, who was arrested in Hong Kong in connection with importation of 51 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine to Australia.

Mr Ribeiro stressed that work partnership is the key to combating international crimes, in particular dangerous drugs trafficking.
