Deputy Commissioner (Operations) (DCP OPS) Wong Chi-hung, who is Chairman of the Road Safety Council (RSC), took the salute at the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (HKRSP) Annual Review on Police College's Aberdeen Campus on March 20. Taking part in the parade were 23 road safety patrol teams from kindergartens, primary and secondary schools as well as elderly centres.

Addressing the members, Mr Wong pointed out that 122 persons were killed in traffic accidents last year and 81 or 66 per cent of them were pedestrians, indicating that pedestrians are vulnerable to traffic accidents, particularly those aged over 65 and 10 to 14.

Praising HKRSP for playing an important role in promoting pedestrian safety, Mr Wong said this year RSC and the Force would organise major publicity activities on "Elderly Pedestrian Safety", "Student Pedestrian Safety", "Cycling Safety", and "Anti-drink and drug Driving" as well as "Driving Attentively". He hoped HKRSP members would pass the message to their families and friends.
