The Selected Appointment Scheme (SAS) aims to select Station Sergeants (SSGTs) with inspectorate competencies for appointment as inspectors. Following the announcement of the latest administrative instructions for the scheme through the Force Noticeboard, the Recruitment Division (RD) organised a sharing session of the scheme at Police Headquarters on March 31.

A total of 21 SSGTs attended the sharing session. Human Resources Branch Chief Superintendent Siu Chak-yee encouraged the eligible SSGTs to seize the opportunity to advance their career and display their profound experience. Senior Superintendent Lam Chi-ming, Superintendent Yu Hoi-kwan, and Chief Inspectors Chan Wai-wah and Lau Kam-pan shared respectively with the participants the points to note at the final interview, the selection schedule and the selection criteria at the extended interview. Inspector Li Sze-ki, a successful candidate of the scheme, shared his experience and ways to improve physical fitness.

Since 2014/15, the eligibility criterion on the year of service in the rank of SSGT has been lowered from five to three. Last year, RD received 23 recommendations from Formation Commanders with over half of the recommended officers successfully appointed as inspectors.
