In a bid to commend officers of Kwun Tong District (KTDIST) for their swift actions in detecting a theft and recovering over $1.5 million in cash, a representative of the security company concerned presented a plate and tapestry banners to KTDIST Commander Barry Smith, Deputy Commander Alice Lee, Assistant Commander (Crime) Wong Kai-chung, Chief Inspector (Crime) Daniel Dungey and officers of District Crime Squad 1 (DCS 1) earlier.

When officers of DCS 1 KTDIST received a report about a theft in which two boxes containing $1,688,000 in cash were stolen on January 22, they immediately conducted thorough investigation. A suspect was arrested, followed by a search of the suspect's house which led to recovering a sum of around $1,119,000. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had transmitted $470,000 in Renminbi to a Shenzhen bank account. With the assistance of Liaison Bureau and the Mainland's Public Security Bureau, an amount of around $405,000 in Renminbi was recovered from the Shenzhen account on May 20.
