The Police College and Hong Kong Qualifications Framework Secretariat (HKQFS) co-organised the "2016 Inter-Departmental Seminar on Training Quality Assurance and Professional Accreditation under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework" on June 15 to champion good practices in the Quality Assurance Mechanism and share professional accreditation experience.

More than 200 training management staff from various formations and secondary duty cadres as well as 13 government departments, public bodies and academic institutions attended the seminar. Police College staff and guest speakers from the HKQFS and the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications shared with the participants their knowledge on the subjects.

Speaking at the event, Director of Police College Lau Chi-wai said that the Force is striving for excellence in public service and is committed to continuously improving the qualities of its training programmes and enhancing the professionalism and competence of officers with a view to meeting the expectations and challenges of society.

The Police Force, being the first government department to accredit the training programmes at Qualifications Framework Levels 4 and 5 (at the same level of Associate Degree/Higher Diploma and Bachelor Degree respectively), actively strengthens co-operation with other government departments and public bodies to promote the best practices in delivering quality training.

By the end of the seminar, Ms Lau signed Memoranda of Understanding respectively with the Open University of Hong Kong and the School of Professional and Continuing Education of the University of Hong Kong, which will offer credit exemption to officers pursuing further studies towards Bachelor Degree and Postgraduate Diploma programmes.
