Over 220 cyber security practitioners from the Hong Kong Association of Banks, Securities and Futures Commission, Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the local banking and financial sector attended the e-Security Seminar held by Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) on June 27. The seminar aimed at boosting the capability of the sector on preventing cyber threats.


Delivering opening remarks at the seminar, Superintendent Chan Chi-yung and Chief Inspector Cao Wai-ki of the Technology Crime Division (TCD) shared the latest technology crime trend and several hacking cases in which overseas hackers infiltrated major computing systems. Then Inspector Lam Wing-hung of TCD analysed the tactics these hackers employed, and explored measures to prevent such intrusions. Afterwards Senior Inspector Wong Yue-to of TCD shared the recent types of ransomware and their infection process.


In response the participants said that the seminar facilitated them to acquire valuable information for safeguarding their corporate computing systems.
