To mark the successful conclusion of the Summer Job Attachment of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) 2016/17, the Police College held a presentation ceremony for the attachment at Police Headquarters on September 28, with the participation of more than 100 mentors, mentees and project officers.

This year, a total of 135 mentees were attached to various police formations, at which they assisted in 118 research and review projects, including topical studies, event planning and information technology related projects.

Upon completion of the job attachment, the mentees had to submit a report. Then an adjudicating panel comprising mentors from the 11 tertiary institutes concerned selected 10 outstanding reports. The top three mentees were invited to present their projects at the presentation ceremony, with Head Mentor cum Director of the Police College Lau Chi-wai, Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Tang Ping-keung, and Deputy Head Mentor cum Chief Superintendent of the Human Resources Branch Siu Chak-yee selecting the winners for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards.

Delivering an opening speech at the ceremony, Ms Lau said, "The mentees could gain practical experience in different police formations. The attachment also enabled the mentees to gain a better understanding of the Force's culture, values and professionalism." The mentees echoed that they could learn more about policing through the attachment, thereby strengthening their determination to join the Force after graduation.

Enrolment for the PMP 2017/18 has commenced. Interested persons are welcome to apply at the Student Affairs Office of their respective institute. For enquiries, please send an email to the Recruitment Division at rec-publicity@police.gov.hk.
