A total of 373 awards was presented at the Kowloon East (KE) Best Security Services Awards Presentation Ceremony 2015-2016 on October 20. Apart from the gold, silver and bronze awards, 44 Best Security Guards and 229 Outstanding Security Guards were commended, and their property management companies were presented with the Best Partner Awards and Outstanding Partner Awards respectively.


KE Regional Commander Duncan McCosh officiated at the presentation ceremony, with the awards presented by Commanders of Wong Tai Sin District, Sau Mau Ping District, Kwun Tung District and Railway District; Chairman of the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority Mr Cham Ka-hung; committee member of the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies Limited Mr Ip Chi-ming; and Chairpersons of Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committees.


The Gold Award was conferred to Ms Lau Lai-king who displayed alertness in assisting an elderly resident of Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate in identifying a telephone scam. On June 16 last year, she noticed the elder hurrying off the lift lobby with a flurried look. Upon inquiry, she learned that the elder received an anonymous call, claiming that her son was kidnapped and a ransom of $200,000 was demanded. Ms Lau assisted the elder to make a report to the Force and prevented the elder from fallen prey to telephone fraudsters.
