Airport District (APTDIST) rolled out the Project HALO recently in an attempt to enhance frontline officers' capability in addressing apron security issues as well as fostering co-operation with stakeholders and the air cargo community.

New Territories South Regional Commander Lui Hon-kwok officiated at the Kick-off Ceremony of the Project HALO at the Airport Police Station on November 9, with the attendance of Director-General of Civil Aviation Mr Li Tin-chui, Executive Director of Airport Operations of Airport Authority Hong Kong Mr CK Ng, Executive Director of Aviation Security Company Limited Mr Lau Chi-keung, and about 100 representatives of cargo terminal operators, ramp handling agents and other government departments.

APTDIST Commander Kwok Ka-chuen thanked the participating organisations for their solid support. He highlighted the early achievement of the Project HALO in combating apron thefts, with the number of baggage pilferage cases in the third quarter dropping to a six-year low. The airport partners welcomed the police initiative and pledged their continuous support to the project to ensure that the Hong Kong International Airport remains one of the world's safest airports.
