Six officers from the Small Boat Division (SBDIV) of Marine Region, led by Chief Inspector Mark Williams, spent five days with the Special Task Squadron (STS) of the Singapore Police Coast Guard (PCG) on a Training Attachment Programme from November 7 to 11 with an aim to upgrading SBDIV's capability to respond to emergencies at sea.

The six officers participated in STS' key training programmes, including speedboat handling, tactical ship boarding, close quarter battle tactics and underwater confidence training. They also shared their work experience with STS officers.

The core responsibilities of STS are similar to those of SBDIV and both units have maintained a close partnership for over a decade through the annual exchange programme. The experience gained from the attachment this year is of great value to SBDIV's strategic development.
