A good, effective and efficient Police Force helped to ensure the enforcement of law, which was essential for local courts to apply the rule of law that laid the cornerstone of Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, the Commissioner on Interception of Communications and Surveillance, Mr Azizul Rahman Suffiad, said on December 3 when inspecting a passing-out parade at the Police College.

Mr Suffiad pointed out that the Hong Kong Police Force has earned for itself a most respectable reputation for the way in which it combats and investigates crime. Over the years, the Force has been acknowledged internationally as one of the best law enforcement agencies in Asia.

"For the Hong Kong Police Force to continue to enjoy its reputation as being Asia's finest, the tradition and culture, the honour and the integrity of the Force will have to be maintained and passed on unfailingly from one generation to the next of succeeding policemen here," he said.

Mr Suffiad encouraged the graduates to perform their duties to maintain law and order in the territory so as to uphold the continuation of the long-established reputation of the Force, and to ensure that Hong Kong remains a safe and stable society for both its citizens and visitors.

A total of 42 probationary inspectors and 252 recruit police constables took part in the passing-out parade.
