With the launching of the "Project Smart – My Date with District Commander" by Tuen Mun District (TMDIST), 25 primary and secondary students, who were children of TMDIST officers, were invited to visit Tuen Mun Police Station on August 25 to learn about their parent's work and to meet with the District Commander (DC).

Under the guide of Police Community Relations Officers (PCROs), the children were taken on a tour of the facilities of the police station to get to know the daily work of the uniform branch and district investigation teams. To let the children get a feel of an officer's outfit, a range of mini police uniforms were given to them to try on. They were also given an opportunity to wear police belts and bullet-proof vests to experience the heavy weight carried by an officer. To raise their awareness of drug prevention, officers walked the children through the scourge of drugs and showed them some drug samples. Their long-awaited police dog performance and an introduction to the Police Dog Unit were also arranged.

Afterwards, DC TMDIST Mak Wai-man, together with PCRO Choi Sau-kuen and Acting Training and Staff Relations Officer Lee Shu-kuen, shared their policing experience with the children at a tea gathering. Some children said they wanted to be an outstanding police officer. Not only did the visit enrich the children's understanding of their parent's work, but it also instilled positive values in these children.
