警聲

The year 2019 marks the 175th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Police Force. The Hongkong Post will issue a set of special stamps on the theme of "Our Police Force" next year.

In addition to this article about the special stamps, the Police College and the Police Philatelic Club will publish articles in OffBeat to let Force members know more about the history, features, collection value and augmented reality effect of the Force's stamps as well as related philatelic souvenirs to be produced by the Police College.

Since its inception in 1844, the Force has always done its utmost to maintain social order and protect life and property of citizens. Compared with other police forces around the world, the Hong Kong Police Force performs a wider range of duties, including coastal and boundary security and counter-terrorism tasks. To help the public learn more about the unique and extensive services of the Force, the Hongkong Post will issue a set of six stamps and a stamp sheetlet to showcase the dynamics of police work, covering boundary security, crime investigation and detection, cultural diversity and equal opportunity, police training, international collaboration, and traffic management.

In 1994, the Hongkong Post issued a set of commemorative stamps for the 150th anniversary of the Force. A quarter century later, on April 30, 2019, it will issue another set of special stamps. Other related philatelic products, including Presentation Pack, Prestige Stamp Booklet and First Day Cover, will also be available for sale. Due to a limited supply of the above philatelic products on the official issuance date, all police units and Force members are welcome to make a pre-order on or before January 15, 2019 through the Hongkong Post's website (www.stamponnet.hongkongpost.hk) or its mobile app.
