The summer job attachment scheme for mentees of the 2018-19 Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) came to a successful conclusion on October 3 at the Police Headquarters, with over 100 mentors, mentees and project officers attending a prize presentation ceremony of the scheme.

The job attachment scheme has been well received by mentees and the number of participants has increased year by year. This year, 203 mentees were attached to police formations in summer to gain experience of police work. They have participated in a total of 137 projects, including thematic research, event planning and information technology related assignments. Each mentee submitted a job attachment report to an adjudicating panel, which comprised mentors from 11 tertiary institutes. Ten outstanding reports were shortlised.

The top three mentees were invited to present their projects in the prize presentation ceremony, with Head Mentor cum Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Siu Chak-yee and Deputy Head Mentor cum Deputy Director 1 of the Police College Chan Man-tak selecting the winners of the gold, silver and bronze awards.

Meanwhile, the mentees benefited a lot from familiarisation activities, such as Traffic Accident Investigation Workshops and visits to the Police College and Police Dog Unit headquarters.

With the commencement of enrollment for the PMP 2019-20, interested students of the 11 tertiary institutes are welcome to apply at the Student Affairs Office of their respective institutes or through email to the Police Recruitment Division (rec-publicity@police.gov.hk).
