Over 1 000 people participated in the Police Dragon Boat Charity Race 2018 at Shing Mun River in Sha Tin on October 13, raising a record donation of over $800,000. The fund, after deduction of expenses, would go to the Little Life Warrior Society for supporting its services to children who are suffering from cancer or severe blood diseases or have undergone bone marrow transplant, as well as ex-patients and their parents.

On the day of the race, paddlers from 77 teams displayed their team spirit and sportsmanship in all events. In the Chairman Bowl Race, teams made up of directorate officers, members of police staff associations, auxiliary officers and Administrative Officers competed for the trophy. A highlight of the day was the Tripartite Dragon Boat Race, in which the Singapore Police Force, the Macao Judiciary Police and the Hong Kong Police Force each sent 20 elites to compete for the championship in two rounds. The Force team beat the Singapore team in the first round and just marginally lost to the Singapore team in the overall ranking.

Chairperson of Police Dragon Boat Club Ms Lam Hiu-tong thanked all, including the management, members of the Dragon Boat Charity Race Organising Committee, co-organisers, volunteers and paddlers, for their unfailing support to the race. She was glad that the officers could foster friendship with the Singapore and Macao counterparts in the tripartite event.
