At the time of joining the Force, all Force members had a passion to accomplish their aspirations as professional officers. Police work comes in many forms but they all have the same significance. As an initiative to promote the values of "Honour, Duty and Loyalty" amongst Force members, the Internal Investigations Office (IIO) launched the "My Police Story" Contest between June and August. The event aimed at enhancing officers' honour and pride through the sharing of real-life police stories from regular, auxiliary and civilian officers. This helped uncover the hidden values of daily police work.

The contest attracted an overwhelming response with over 260 entries received, involving 1 600 Force members. It consisted of "Video", "Essay" and "Creativity" categories, with gold, silver, bronze, merit and special awards presented in each category. The award presentation ceremony was held at Police Headquarters on November 30 with Commissioner Lo Wai-chung, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chiu Wai-yin and Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tang Ping-keung as the officiating guests. The winners' family members and the supervisory officers of the respective Formations were invited to attend the ceremony to share the joy of the winners.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Lo said, "Each entry is a police story that I am proud of. Some make us feel encouraging and some make us drop tears. I am very glad that I am able to compliment those Force members who work hard and uphold the values of 'Honour, Duty and Loyalty'.

"I also feel very encouraging that Force members joined the contest enthusiastically. The enthusiastic participation showed the affirmation and recognition of the core values of the Force at all levels. I hope that Force members will know once again the importance of their work through the police stories and that they will be proud of their work and their sense of duty will be enhanced. I also hope that they will serve the public on the principle of loyalty and continue to be luminous in their posts and be proud of being a member of the Force," he added.

The winning entries and the footage of the award presentation ceremony have been uploaded to the Ethics Corner on the Police Intranet (POINT). Following the successful conclusion of the ceremony, a series of promotional activities of the "Honour, Duty and Loyalty" campaign will be held. IIO will share the winning entries of "My Police Story" Contest on different platforms to remind officers that police work is an honoured duty, a life-long mission and commitment. IIO encourages Force members at all levels to continue to uphold the value of loyalty of the Force at all times and to strive to maintain Hong Kong as one of the safest and most stable societies in the world.
