Commissioner Lo Wai-chung officiated at the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) Hong Kong Port Police Base on January 17. Many community leaders and working partners attended the ceremony to show their support.

Mr Lo said the Police Base was the first police premises opened in 2019, the year marking the 175th anniversary of the Hong Kong Police Force. He appreciated the staff for their efforts in the planning and construction of the base. He hoped the colleagues there would continue to strive for excellence and provide quality services to the public. Then the guests joined guided tours to learn about the facilities and daily operation of the Police Base, and gave unanimous praise.

Lantau District started planning the policing project of HZMB in 2013 to tie in with the opening of HZMB Hong Kong Port. The Police Base, decorated in light grey and dark blue, is connected with the Incident Control Tower which is about seven storeys high. It is equipped with a multi-directional closed-circuit television and broadcasting system to ensure public safety and manage police resources on the bridge and at the port. Apart from the Police Base, a Police Reporting Centre has been set up in the Passenger Clearance Building to provide round-the-clock service for the public.
