Wan Chai District (WCHDIST) co-organised the Wan Chai District Crime Prevention Microfilm event with Wan Chai District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC), Wan Chai District Office and the Methodist Centre to alert the public to the modus operandi of crimes and to publicise crime prevention messages. A premiere of three microfilms was held at Police Headquarters on January 5.

The microfilms promote the themes of "Mother chat group internet shopping fraud", "Stay away from drugs" and "Online romance scams", featuring local athletes Sonia Kong, Lau Mo-sheung and Cheung Siu-lun as well as six students from Tang Shiu Kin Victoria Government Secondary School. The microfilms were filmed in Wan Chai and the production team used professional cinematography techniques to disseminate crime prevention and anti-drug messages to the public.

The premiere was presided by Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tang Ping-keung, Regional Commander of Hong Kong Island Kwok Pak-chung, Wan Chai District Officer Mr Chan Tin-chu, Chairman of the Wan Chai District Council Mr Ng Kam-chun, Chairman of Wan Chai DFCC Mr Li Shing-kuen and Convenor of the microfilm event Mr Yeung Ka-shing. Over 300 people attended the premiere.

The microfilms will be shown in primary and secondary schools in the district and will be uploaded to an online platform to spread crime prevention messages to more members of the public and raise their awareness of fraud.
