Thirteen outstanding officers of Tseung Kwan O District (TKODIST) received certificates of commendation under the first TKODIST Outstanding Police Officer Award Scheme on January 20. The scheme aimed to boost staff morale and to motivate them to keep on providing quality service.

TKODIST Commander Mark Anstiss congratulated all awardees, commending their devotion to duty and encouraging them to keep up the delivery of a quality police service. The awardees were selected by a panel, which comprised former TKODIST Commander Kong Hok-lai, Chairman of Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committee (SK DFCC) Mr Chan Kuen-kwan, SK DFCC member Mr Ng Wai-sing and Assistant District Officer (Sai Kung) Mr Chow Tat-wing.

Amongst the awardees, Cheung Hoi-pang of Patrol Sub-Unit 1 was awarded a gold medal for his exemplary performance during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Mangkhut.

Meanwhile, TKODIST held the Winter Precaution Fight Crime Publicity Campaign in partnership with SK DFCC, Sai Kung Division and Marine East Division on January 20. Assistant Commander (Operations) of TKODIST Wong Ho-hon led officers as well as members of the Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call of TKODIST on a bus parade. They distributed leaflets to passers-by to remind them to pay extra attention to home security and telephone deception.

Later on January 28, 29 and 30, TKODIST and the Police Dog Unit organised a fight crime publicity event in collaboration with Sai Kung District Councillors, SK DFCC and Hang Hau Rural Committee members in the rural area of the district. Mark Anstiss and Deputy Commander of TKODIST Paul Renouf handed out leaflets and souvenirs to villagers to remind them to stay alert to burglary and telephone deception, as well as avoiding the use of illegal fireworks.
