The Exercise and Audit Division (EADIV) of the Major Incidents Bureau (MIB) ran the first "Duty Controller Incident Command Workshop" on April 1 and 2. The workshop aimed to reinforce the capabilities of Duty Controllers as well as officers who may act as Duty Controllers to command and co-ordinate major incidents and terrorist attacks.

Senior Superintendent of the MIB Peter Whitton officiated at the opening of the workshop. He stressed that Duty Controllers play a vital role in responding to critical incidents. He also highlighted the importance of an effective and organised initial response in accordance with Force procedures.

Twenty-three officers from the rank of Senior Inspector to Superintendent attended the training session. The workshop enhanced the learning experience of the participants through interactive discussions and table-top exercises related to major incidents and terrorist attacks.

Upon the completion of the workshop, Mr Whitton presented certificates to the participants and concluded that the training provided an excellent opportunity for the participants to hone their command and co-ordination skills, strengthen their knowledge of Force procedures and heighten their situational awareness.
