Under the arrangement of the Hong Kong Police College, Senior Inspectors Lau Hon-Kwan and Kong Chi-ying attended a training course, titled "Leadership in Action", at the Queensland Police Service Academy in Australia between February 18 and March 8.

The course provided classroom training and attachment opportunities for local and overseas law enforcement officers. The two-week classroom training covered the topics of leadership skills, building a positive work culture, enhancing internal communication and strategic responses to an ever-changing environment.

During the one-week attachment, the trainees visited various police units, including the Innovation Unit, the Police Communications Centre, the Police Operations Centre, the Technical Surveillance Unit, the Covert and Specialist Operations Group and the State Intelligence Group, to learn more about the application of technology in policing, techniques of community engagement, budgeting and change management.

The two Hong Kong officers said the course enabled them to acquire practical management and leadership skills, and gave them a chance to establish a partnership with overseas law enforcement officers.
