Operations Kowloon West (OPS KW) conducted a major incident exercise, codenamed “ROARCRUSH”, with the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) Corporation, Fire Services Department, Auxiliary Medical Service, Civil Aid Service and St. John Ambulance at the small hours on November 5 to test and strengthen the communication and interoperability of different departments in handling major incidents in the railway system.

The exercise simulated a serious train incident and a serious traffic accident outside an MTR station that resulted in mass casualties. Participants of the exercise comprised more than 400 officers from various units, including KW’s Regional Response Contingent, Emergency Unit, Police Tactical Unit, Regional Crime Unit, Enforcement and Control Unit of Traffic, Sham Shui Po District, Cheung Sha Wan Division, Railway District, the Force Media Liaison Cadre, as well as members of Police Mentorship Programme and Police Oriented Tactical Emergency Medicine Course.

The exercise helped strengthening the ability of officers in planning and executing inter-departmental major rescue operations to ensure the preparedness of the Force for major incidents.
