To tie in with the government’s effort to fast-track the construction of public housing for improving the residents’ living environment, the Housing Department (HD) organised a sharing session at Hong Kong Housing Authority Headquarters on June 12. The Force, Transport Department and Highways Department were invited to explain the key points of road closures involving housing projects so that HD and project contractors could plan temporary traffic diversion measures properly for speeding up road closure application and housing construction.

Representatives from the Traffic Branch Headquarters and Road Management Offices of various Regions shared with the participants on common issues about road closure and traffic diversion, as well as providing practical advice to road project planners so that approval time could be shortened. The officers also explained the Force’s principles, considerations and relevant cases in approving road works. The participants also asked questions enthusiastically and exchanged views during the Q&A session.

The Force will continue supporting the government’s policy of speeding up housing construction and keep collaborating closely with other government departments to ensure that construction of public housing can be fast-tracked on the premise of public safety and smooth traffic.
