To echo the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, the Leadership Institute on Narcotics (L.I.O.N.) went to Humen, Dongguan on June 25 to attend the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao youth anti-drug programme hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Narcotics Control Commission. Led by Director of Crime and Security Yip Wan-lung, the group of 18 L.I.O.N. members comprising committee members, graduates of the first cohort and current university mentees exchanged anti-drug knowledge and culture with local youngsters.

The L.I.O.N. members attended the plaque unveiling ceremony of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area anti-drug education base. They also visited the Lin Zexu Memorial Museum, especially the former site of the pits where Lin Zexu destroyed opium, to learn about historic episodes of national drug control and national policy on anti-drug education. The L.I.O.N. mentees also disseminated anti-drug messages and distributed souvenirs to local youths and the public. The exchange programme allowed the mentees to understand the importance of anti-drug efforts and delve deeper into national anti-drug strategies and history.
