Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) has recently launched Project SILVERSHIELD, which aims to harness cross-sector power for training SILVERSHIELD Ambassadors to promote anti-scam knowledge to citizens, especially the elderly. On June 21, CCB held the first large-scale train-the-trainer workshop under Project SILVERSHIELD at the Police Headquarters. Chief Superintendent of CCB Yau Kin-hung, Chairman of the Agency for Volunteer Service Ms Melissa Pang, Chairman of the Property Management Services Authority Dr James Wong Kong-tin made opening remarks at the workshop. 200 volunteers and representatives of property management organisations joined the workshop and were invited to serve as SILVERSHIELD Ambassadors. The workshop introduced prevalent defrauding tricks, elaborating on relevant case examples and anti-scam information. Attendees were given training kits to share anti-scam information with those around them in their daily lives and during other volunteer services.

Through the project, CCB hopes to encourage participants to join hands with the Force to combat and prevent deception. CCB will continue inviting organisations from different sectors of the community to join the project and promote anti-scam messages among the public. At present, Project SILVERSHIELD has received support from various stakeholders, including the Social Welfare Department, Department of Health, Hospital Authority, Scout Association of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Girls Guide Association, Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, Agency for Volunteer Service and LINK.
