Tsuen Wan District (TWDIST) conducted an anti-burglary operation codenamed DAWNRAY on July 11. With a two-pronged approach that covered law enforcement and promotion of anti-burglary messages, TWDIST aimed to combat burglary in rural areas.

With the aid of small unmanned aircrafts, TWDIST, together with the Police Tactical Unit, Emergency Unit and Police Dog Unit of New Territories South, searched secluded places and potential hideouts of the culprits in the burglary black spots. Roadblocks were also set up to stop and search suspicious vehicles, while Marine officers conducted high-profile patrols by the coastline and waters in the District.

As for promotion of crime prevention messages, to enhance police-public cooperation and raise residents’ anti-crime awareness, officers from the Police Community Relations Office of TWDIST and Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories South joined hands with the representatives of Tsuen Wan Rural Committee to visit villages and distribute anti-crime leaflets and security alarms to the residents, and recommend installing CCTV systems and security devices.
