To enhance the overall response capabilities of officers from the Police Tactical Unit Headquarters (PTU HQs) and Special Duties Unit (SDU) when dealing with situations involving life-threatening bleeding due to severe injuries, PTU HQs, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Association for Conflict and Catastrophe Medicine (HKACCM), held the first-ever Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) First Aid Instructor Course on August 24. The course was facilitated by President of HKACCM Dr Chan Tak-shing and Vice President of HKACCM Dr Chow Yuk-yin, as well as their team members. 33 officers attended the course, whose contents covered the proper usage, potential risks, and practical training on CAT.

After completing the course, all participants agree that they are more confident in applying CAT effectively under critical situations to reduce injuries and save lives.
