For supporting the government’s policy to promote environment protection and to use electric vehicles (EV), Chai Wan Police Married Quarters (PMQ) has been selected as the first site for the pilot scheme of Installation of EV Charging Facilities. After a thorough market research and tendering exercise, Police Quartering Division (PQD) has installed five medium-speed EV chargers equipped with Octopus payment system at Chai Wan PMQ. The EV charging service adopts a user-pay principle with a charging rate based on electricity cost.


Chairman of the Residents’ Association (RA) Mr Frankie Leung, Chief Superintendent (CSP) of Conditions of Service and Discipline (CS&D) Branch of Personnel Wing Cheung Tin-yee, Building Services Engineer of Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Mr Gary Lam, as well as representatives of PQD, officiated at the commissioning ceremony held on December 11, 2023. On behalf of the Force management, Cheung Tin-yee expressed appreciation for the support of RA and that of other departments, and called for feedback from residents on the pilot.


PQD will continue promoting the pilot schemes led by the Security Bureau. Projected for completion in 2024, pilot schemes at other quarter sites, including the Police College Married Inspectorate Quarters, Shun Lee Disciplined Services Quarters (DSQ) and Lai King DSQ, are in the pipeline.
