Since March, Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU) has invited more than 170 non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) youngsters from Project Lighthouse under the Security Bureau and different Districts along with their parents to visit the Safe Community Hub, which features dedicated exhibition and interactive experience zones of the member departments of ICTU. The participants can experience how to mitigate the risk of terrorist attacks and ensure personal and community safety.

Moreover, on March 16, ICTU joined the Racial Harmony Mini Hockey Tournament cum Crime Prevention & Safety Awareness Day 2024 organised by the Racial Integration Education and Welfare Association. Over 300 NEC junior athletes attended the event. ICTU set up booths at the venue and conducted a drill in which the youngsters were invited to participate and demonstrate how to apply the advisories of “Run, Hide, Report” and “Three basic skills on emergency preparedness” in the face of terrorist attacks or violent incidents.

To further raise the counter-terrorism (CT) awareness of NEC community, ICTU has compiled leaflets in French and six ethnic minority languages, namely Indonesian, Nepali, Urdu, Punjabi, Tagalog and Hindi. The leaflets are distributed at the Hub and other events.
