Tai chi duo take wushu title

Two members of the Police Chinese Wushu Club won several major prizes at a recent competition.

Senior Inspector Aaron Lee and Station Sergeant Ma Pak-chuen won the third class prize in the 1999 Hong Kong Wushu Championship on August 8, which was jointly organised by the Hong Kong Wushu Union, the Provisional Urban Council and the Provisional Regional Council .

The victory came after the duo took out the team and beginner's prizes of merit, plus the beginner's second class prize in the Hong Kong Martial Arts Competition organised by the Hong Kong Chinese Martial Arts Association on June 13.

Celebrating the victories, the Club encouraged other officers to join its tai chi classes, saying apart from being an enjoyable sport, tai chi was even better for health, easing hypertension, joint pain and other problems.

The martial art was also excellent for self defence.

For information on tai chi classes call Clara Leung on 2703-2477, or Inspector Tsang Moon-lun at 2480-9251.
