Force academics graduate

More than 60 disciplined forces officers received Chinese University diplomas on Policing and Security Studies on November 25.

The ceremony also saw 18 others who recently enrolled in the course, awarded scholarships. The majority of the recipients were police.

Officiating at the ceremony, Secretary for Security Regina Ip said: "The disciplined forces have a good reputation for maintaining Hong Kong's law and order and for keeping crime rates low. To face the challenges of the 21st century, every one of us should keep equipping ourselves with up-to-date knowledge and skills by adopting a life-long learning attitude."

Mrs Ip hailed the graduates' hard work and encouraged them to continue it. The course, introduced in 1998, covers sociology, psychology, criminology, crime detecting skills and Hong Kong and Mainland laws. Over 1,500 people have enrolled in the course, mostly disciplined staff.

Director of Personnel and Training Robin Leung Fung-shun and Assistant Commissioner (Training) Yip Kwok-keung also attended the ceremony.
