Promoting care on Cheung Chau

Marine Port District held fight-crime and elderly-respect awareness drives with the Island District Fight Crime Committee on Cheung Chau, November 18.

The campaign was to promote crime prevention by strengthening residents' awareness of personal and property safety, and to encourage a pro-active attitude in fighting crime.

As most island residents opened their doors and windows in the autumn cool, they left themselves vulnerable to burglaries.

Fight-crime leaflets were distributed on the island's streets and Junior Police Call Fight Crime Ambassadors also gave drama performances warning of the dangers of street deception.

Visits were paid to elderly care centres and to old folk living alone, with the JPC crew performing a variety show for them and presenting gifts.

The day's guests and officials included Cheung Chau Divisional Commander Feline Li Wai-lin, along with representatives of the Islands District FCC, the Cheung Chau Women's Association, and MP DIST Community Relations and Marine Regional Crime Prevention Unit officers.
