Sixteen senior officers were handed promotion letters over the festive period. Of them, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Douglas Lau Yuk-kuen and DCP (Management) Dick Lee Ming-kwai were handed promotion letters by Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui at Police Headquarters on January 2. Senior Assistant Commissioners Ng Wai-kit and Gordon Fung Siu-yuen, Assistant Commissioners Edward Mak Man-poon and John Chung Hiu-pang, Chief Superintendents David O' Brien, Barbara Willison, Jawaid Khan and William Lee Wai-lam were presented promotion letters by CP Tsang on January 4 (ACP Steve Chandler was on annual leave).
Meanwhile, promotion letters were handed to Senior Superintendents Alan Yu Mun-wah and Alan Fan Sik-ming, Superintendents Simon Lee Wing-kong, Daniel Leung Chin-wah, Paul Lau and Chan Ka-kit by then Commissioner Eddie Hui Ki-on, December 14.
