Thai Interpol conference

CP Tsang meets a representative of the Thai Royal Family

Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui led a team of senior officers to attend the 16th Interpol Asian Regional Conference in Bangkok, February 20 to 22.

The Force delegation included Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Peter Yam Tat-wing and Liaison Bureau Senior Superintendent Ma Wai-luk, and more than 120 delegates from 28 member states and other law enforcement organisations attended the conference.

Key issues discussed included the latest and emerging crime trends in Interpol's Asian Region, in particular: the continuing and entrenched threat of drug production and abuse, particularly synthetic drugs like 'ecstasy'; IT crime and Interpol's 'cyber crime' working group report, and the importance of the region developing an integrated strategy in response; and, banknote counterfeiting, highlighting the introduction of the new 'Euro' later this year.
