The pipes and the drums: The mace ceremony begins in full tartan regalia

The annual Display of the Mace Ceremony in memory of the late Sir Shiu Kin Tang was held at the Police Training School on June 14.

With about 50 officers in attendance, Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui reminisced the late philanthropist's contributions to police staff welfare and thanked his family for their continued support. Lady May, son Richard and daughter Yvonne, also attended.

Donated by Sir Shiu Kin, reflecting his close relationship with the Force, the silver mace has been used in all major ceremonial parades since 1987.

Those gathered held a minute's silence before the Police Band played and Lady May was presented with a bouquet.
