(Translated summary) My experience indicated that the colour of the inner layer of our new black leather gloves would easily fade and "blacken" our hands. For the benefit of the frontline officers, the department concerned should improve the quality of the leather gloves.
Station Sergeant Eric Wong ReplyIn fact, this problem was brought to the attention of Police Stores through the Uniform & Accoutrement (Land Region) Sub-committee meeting on January 10 last year. The manufacturer had been asked to make immediate improvements. We have sought advice on additional specifications which have been included in our recent tender exercise for a new batch of gloves. One of the requirements is to ensure the leather used will not discolour. The first consignment of new leather gloves has been received and will be distributed shortly.
