While there are some who grumble about our service, there are others who truly appreciate our work. In an "alleged assault" case we once handled, the friendly attitude, efficiency and professionalism of colleagues deeply impressed the victim, who subsequently expressed her gratitude by sending a letter of appreciation to our DVC.

We all felt very encouraged by the woman's letter as this goes to prove that our work can be rewarding if we show care and adopt the right attitude when dealing with members of the public.

We should not think negatively that people love to lodge complaints. In fact, they would also show their appreciation when they are happy and content with our service.

Apart from enforcing the law, we sometimes take on the role of a mediator or a social worker in our daily contact with members of the public. Let's fight against negativism. We should not just avoid complaints but should adopt a proactive attitude and put to good use our talents when dealing with people.
