The mace, used by the Police Bagpipe Band since 1987 in official ceremonies, was donated by Sir Shiu Kin, who was a well-known philanthropist.

The ceremony, attended by a party of senior officers, was held at the Police Training School on June 18.

His widow, Lady May, and their two children Richard and Yvonne were also present.

Commissioner Tsang also thanked Mr Tang for proposing to donate another silver mace for use by the Police Band.
