Rising from the ashes

The Games Night, once a popular annual mess event, has arisen from the ashes.

After a hiatus of eight years, Kowloon East Regional Headquarters Mess successfully resurrected the event, which was held last month at the Sau Mau Ping Mess.

The Games Night competition was held for four consecutive years since 1990.

The gathering was aimed at fostering good relationships, and enhancing communication and cooperation among officers.

Response to the initiative by the President of the KERHQ Mess, Mr. Kevin Cooper, was overwhelming as some 130 officers from the three KE Districts and various formations of the KERHQ participated in the event.

They represented six messes, namely Sau Mau Ping, Wong Tai Sin, Kwun Tong, Kai Tak Operational Base, KE Operational Base and KEHQ.

The participants took part in snooker, table football, golf putting, steeple-chase, darts, bottle-walking, tug-of-war and boat race competitions.

KE Regional Commander, Mr. MAK Man-poon, was the referee of the boat race - the last event for the evening. The Games Night trophy was won by Sau Mau Ping after a close contest with KE Operational Base.
