AGM & Finals of Closed Championships 2002
The Police Squash Club on May 17 staged the finals of the Closed Championships at the Police Sports and Recreation Club squash courts.
It was unfortunate that Mr Yau Wing-wah (the defending champion of the Main competition) and Mr Leung Chi-man, were unable to play due to injury and duty commitment respectively.
Mr Carven Ng Chi-ho and Mr Simon Lau Shing-chung are the winners of this year's Main and Plate competitions respectively. Both should be congratulated for eliminating many other strong players to reach the finals.
The final of the Chairman's Cup was contested between Mr Bill Chan Kwok-ming and Mr Kenny Ip Lau-chuen. Mr Chan won all three games with a score of 9-2, 10-8, 9-6.
The Chairman's Plate was won by Mr Chan Po-shing who defeated Mr Yuen Wai-cheong by 6-9, 9-1, 9-5, 9-1.
The Ladies' Cup was played between last year's winner, Ms Cecilia Siu Ching-man and Grace Wong Yuen-kwan. As Ms Siu was engaged on the date of the competition, the contest was held a day earlier. Ms Siu won all the three games.
The worthy winners of our annual trophies, the "Player of the Year" and the "Barnes Booi" were also announced. The awards went to Mr Jimmy Lau Kwong-hoi and Ms Rebecca Lam Hui-tung respectively for their excellent performance in the Winter League and contribution towards the running of the Club.
Presentation of prizes were held during Police Squash Club AGM in the conference room of the PSRC with the following persons being elected as committee members for the 2002/2003 season:

About 30 members attended the AGM and the prizes were presented by the Club Chairman, Mr Peter Barnes.
