IPCC familiarisation visits

Members of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) visited the Force Discipline Adjudication Unit (FDAU) and Regional Command & Control Centre of Hong Kong Island (RCCC HKI) on October 18.

The visitors were accompanied throughout their visit by Complaints & Internal Investigation Branch Chief Superintendent, Mr John Lee Ka-chiu, and Complaints Against Police Office Senior Superintendent, Mr Samson Yu Mun-sang.

During the visit to FDAU by the IPCC members - Miss Sylvia Yau Siu-fee, Mr Alan Leong Kah-kit, Mr Kwan Chi-ping, and Dr Charles Koo Ming-yan - they were met by Chief Superintendent Personnel Management, Mr Martin Samson; Superintendent Discipline, Mr Steve Verralls, and FDAU Superintendent, Mr Eric Lee Ying-min. The visitors were briefed on the Force Discipline System and the Force Discipline Adjudicating System.

The four IPCC members, joined by another member, Mr Wan Suet-ming, then proceeded to RCCC HKI where they were greeted by Senior Superintendent (Operations) of Hong Kong Island, Mr Simon Leung King-hang; RCCC HKI Superintendent, Ms Rose Cheuk Mee-chan, and Chief Police Communication Officer, Miss Margaret Li Mei-may. They were given a briefing on the set-up and functions of RCCC HKI before touring the 999 and traffic and formation consoles. They also held discussions with the staff members before concluding their tour.

The visit was organised by the Complaints and Internal Investigation Branch, as part of a programme to further enhance IPCC members' understanding of police duties and the practical problems faced by frontline officers in carrying out their duties.
